Garden Design and Landscaping in Warwick
Design-and-build garden projects across Warwick, CV34 and the surrounding villages
Warwick gardens rarely come easy. Period walls that have to stay, gardens you can only reach through the house, mature trees you cannot touch without asking, and ground that holds water half the year. We work all of that out first, show you the finished garden in 3D, then build it with one team.
Landscaping services for Warwick gardens
Survey, 2D plans and 3D views before anything is quoted or dug.
Porcelain, sandstone, limestone and granite, laid to the right falls and detail.
Soakaways, land drainage and waterlogged lawns sorted properly.
Holding back a slope to win level, usable garden out of it.
Timber, composite and slatted screening where privacy matters.
Pergolas, arbours and gazebos built for the space they sit in.
Composite and timber, often the answer where levels rule out paving.
For shaded, worn or awkward lawns that never quite recover.
Everything is worked out before anything is dug

We survey the awkward parts first
Levels, access, drainage, aspect and whatever is already there that has to stay. On a Warwick garden that often means an old boundary wall, a mature tree or a route to the back that runs through the house. These are the things that decide what a garden can become, and they are far cheaper to resolve on paper than halfway through a build.

You see it before you commit to it
An outline sketch, then a coloured plan, then 3D views and a walkthrough taken from where you will actually stand: the back door, the kitchen window, the far end of the lawn. Paving, walling and planting are all chosen at this point, with samples where the colour matters. If something is not right, it changes on the drawing.

One team builds it and clears up after itself
Groundworks, drainage, paving, walls, structures, lighting and planting are ours. Any other trade needed is arranged and managed by us. You get one fixed price and one number to ring, and the site is left tidy at the end of each day — which matters more than people expect on a narrow street.
There is more on why we work this way in our piece on designing gardens before building anything, and our design consultation is where most Warwick projects start.
What we come across in and around Warwick
Warwick is really three sets of gardens, and each brings its own problems.
The town centre and the conservation area
Georgian and Victorian houses with long, narrow plots, brick boundary walls that are often older than the house behind them, and no way in except through the property. Work here is about restraint: repairing and keeping the walls, choosing paving that sits comfortably against old brick, and planning access so the build does not become a nuisance to the neighbours. Where a property is listed, that protection can extend to the garden walls as well — our Grade II listed project near Coleshill shows what that involves in practice.
The newer estates
Chase Meadow, Warwick Gates and the developments off the Myton Road tend to give you a level rectangle of compacted clay with a thin skim of topsoil, a close-boarded fence on three sides and very little else. The garden itself is straightforward; the ground underneath usually is not, and drainage and soil improvement do most of the heavy lifting before anything decorative goes in.
The village plots
Out towards Barford, Sherbourne and Hampton Magna the plots get bigger, the levels get more interesting and mature trees start to dictate the design. These are the gardens where terracing, long sightlines and proper lighting earn their money.
Before you plan anything around a tree
Trees within a conservation area, and any tree anywhere covered by a Tree Preservation Order, are protected. In most cases you have to give the council written notice before pruning or felling, and work carried out without it can carry a substantial fine. Much of central Warwick sits inside a conservation area, so it is worth a call to the council's tree officer early — certainly before a design commits to losing a tree. We will point out anything that looks like it needs checking, but we are landscapers rather than arboricultural consultants, and the confirmation needs to come from the council.
Clay, water and why patios fail
Most of the area sits on clay. Clay holds water instead of letting it through, which is why lawns stay soft into May, why soakaways silt up and stop working, and why a patio laid without thought for falls ends up with standing water against the house.
We deal with that before the surfaces go down: land drainage where the water needs somewhere to go, a correctly sized soakaway in ground that will actually take it, falls set away from the building, and soil improvement in the planted areas so the plants have a chance. Our garden drainage service in Warwick covers the detail, and there is more on the ground itself in our clay soil guide.
The same thinking applies to the paving above it. Porcelain in particular has to be primed and fully bedded or it will lift, which we go through in installing a porcelain patio properly.

Why people choose us for a Warwick garden
Most of our enquiries come from people who have had one bad experience with a builder and do not want a second.
You see it before you buy it
Nothing is priced from a sketch on the back of a quote. You get a plan and 3D views with the materials chosen, so you know exactly what you are agreeing to.
One team, not five trades
The people who dig the ground are the people who lay the paving and plant the beds. Nobody turns up late blaming someone else.
A fixed price, not a day rate
The figure agreed after the design covers labour, machinery, materials and taking the spoil away. If we get the estimate wrong, that is our problem, not yours.
Insured and established
Trading since 2015, with £1M public liability and over 40 years of combined experience across the team.

Frequently asked questions
Do you cover Warwick and the surrounding area?
Yes. We work throughout Warwick and CV34, and across the wider area including Leamington Spa, Kenilworth and Southam. Most of our work is full design-and-build projects rather than single jobs, so we are usually on one site for several weeks at a time.
My garden has no side or rear access. Can you still work on it?
Usually, yes, and it is a common situation in the older parts of Warwick. It changes how the job is priced and planned rather than whether it can be done: materials and spoil go through the house on protected routes or by barrow, smaller machines are used, and deliveries are staged so the street is not blocked for days. We work this out at survey stage, because access is one of the biggest single influences on cost.
Do I need permission to cut back or remove a tree in my garden?
Possibly. Trees in a conservation area, and any tree covered by a Tree Preservation Order, are protected, and you normally have to give the council written notice before doing work to them. Much of central Warwick falls within a conservation area. Check with the council’s tree officer before committing to a design that involves removing or heavily reducing a tree. We are landscapers, not arboricultural consultants, but we will flag anything that looks like it needs checking.
My lawn is waterlogged and the soakaway seems blocked. Can you fix it?
Yes, and on the clay soils around Warwick it is one of the most common problems we are called about. The usual answer is a combination of land drainage, a properly sized and correctly sited soakaway, and getting the falls right on any hard surfaces. Our garden drainage in Warwick page covers how we approach it.
What is different about designing a garden for a period property?
The constraints usually come from what has to stay rather than what you want to add: old brick walls, level changes made a century ago, mature planting, and a house whose materials the new work has to sit alongside rather than compete with. Where a property is listed, that protection can extend to garden walls and outbuildings too, so consent may be needed for work most people would assume is just landscaping.
Do you offer garden maintenance or lawn treatment?
Only as aftercare for our own clients. When we have designed and built your garden, we can keep its surfaces clean and its planting in shape afterwards; lawn treatment and maintenance rounds for other gardens are not something we offer.
How does a project run, and when do I get a price?
We survey and talk through how you want to use the garden, then design it in 2D and 3D with the materials chosen. Once the design is agreed you get one fixed price covering labour, machinery, groundworks, materials and spoil removal, and one team delivers the lot rather than a sequence of separate trades.
